Welcome to STEM2021 Engaging Girls in STEM discussion.
I’m Jenine – and I work to engage girls in STEM in the classroom. I run the Tech Girls Movement Foundation – our signature work is a 12 week STEM entrepreneurship program for girls from 7-17yo. We work across Australia and New Zealand and we run free one day face to face workshops – let me know if you are interested in hosting one. I have a book – 5 things you can do to engage girls in STEM
Our superhero in residence Jacqueline Tate is presenting on our program and many other interesting things here at STEM2021. Catch her inspiring presentation here https://stem2023.wpengine.com/videos/connecting-women-and-girls-through-stem-to-build-the-workforce-of-the-future/

Any questions / comments welcome! I’d love to hear what you are doing to Engage girls in STEM.

If we consider the 5 things you can do to engage girls in STEM – consider what we do and what we could be doing. I outline this as AEOIU.
A is for Autonomy – we discuss this as giving girls leadership opportunities. How do you do this in your community?

              Hi there Jenine 🙂

Happy to answer any questions about my talk. Also super keen to hear what you are all watching, there’s so much choice!

There are some great talks about engaging girls in STEM, I’m looking forward to:
-Classroom strategies for inclusive learning environments – Leanne Robertson & Rebecca Vivian, Girls in STEM Toolkit (GiST)
-Gender and STEM: One step forward with HunterWiSE – Assoc. Prof. Elena Prieto-Rodriguez, University of Newcastle
-Using targeted pedagogy and strategic learning environments to inspire Australian primary school girls to maintain long-term participation in engineering – Sonia Stitt, Narangba Valley State School

              Recommendations welcome!
              Jaq
