Professor Greenberg joined the University of Newcastle as Pro Vice-Chancellor for the College of Human and Social Futures in 2023, following over a decade as Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Auckland. A Yale-educated linguist with expertise in Slavic languages and their role in ethnic conflicts, particularly in the former Yugoslavia, he has held academic posts at Yale, Georgetown University, and UNC-Chapel Hill. His leadership philosophy centres on respect, generosity, and a commitment to creating positive, inclusive environments for all.
